Filippo Ganna has won the time-trial of the 2019 BinckBank Tour in The Hague. On the 8.3 kilometre course the Italian was three seconds quicker than Edoardo Affini and eight seconds faster than Jos van Emden. Tim Wellens retained his lead with a strong time-trial and will take a bigger bonus to Sunday's final stage to Geraardsbergen.

Early starter Tom Bohli put down the first marker in the streets of a rainy The Hague. The Swiss rider set a time of 9:40, which was quickly bested by Miles Scotson. The Australian Groupama-FDJ rider put down a 9:37, three seconds below Bohli's time.

Harry Tanfield and Dutch champion Jos Van Emden each briefly grabbed the lead until Italian time-trial champion Filippo Ganna blitzed the course with a stunning 9:16. The Team Ineos rider was six seconds quicker than Van Emden. Fellow Italian Edoardo Affini came close to beating Ganna's time, but stranded three seconds from the best time.

Time-trial specialist Stefan Küng, who won the BinckBank Tour time-trial the past two editions, had to settle for third place. In the fight for the general classification Tim Wellens defended a lead of just four seconds against Marc Hirschi. The Belgian put in a strong performance in tenth and increased his gap to Hirschi by five seconds. Laurens De Plus reduced his deficit by two seconds to follow in third, just 12 seconds behind Wellens.
