CCC will start the BinckBank Tour with Greg Van Avermaet as its leader. Van Avermaet is aiming for a good result in the general classification and gets support from fellow Belgians Gijs Van Hoecke and Guillaume Van Keirsbulck.
"The BinckBank Tour is a race that always suited me", said Van Avermaet. The 33-year-old won a stage in the 2014 edition of the Belgian-Dutch stage race and since then he has always been a contender for the overall win (fifth in 2014, second in 2015, fourth in 2016 and 2017, sixth in 2018).
"I am always looking forward to this race. I was happy with my performance in the Clasica San Sebastian (where he finished second). I managed to show I still have power in the legs. The goal in this BinckBank Tour is a good result in the general classification. The stages to Houffalize and Geraardsbergen will be important and the short time-trial will be as well. I'm waiting to see how my body responds. The team is looking strong."
