On Monday 12 August the BinckBank Tour kicks off with the first stage from Beveren to Hulst. It's a first chance for the sprinters teams to take a stage win.
UAE Team Emirates is banking on Belgian talent Jasper Philipsen to head the team. The 21-year-old sprinter is making his return to competition in the Belgian-Dutch stage race after dropping out of the Tour de France.
"After the Tour I took a week of rest", Philipsen said on the team's website. ?Then I started training again in order to be well prepared for the second part of the season."
Philipsen is looking to use the BinckBank Tour to boost his form. "I want to test myself in the BinckBank Tour. It's a race that really suits me. But I know it won't be easy. The level will be high, while I still need to improve my condition."
With Philipsen as its leader UAE Team Emirates is mainly aiming for stage wins on the flat stages. He will get support from Italians Roberto Ferrari, Oliviero Troia and Marco Marcato, Swiss Tom Bohli, Portugal's Rui Oliveira and Colombia's Sebastian Molano.
